Año wants all 17 LGUs in NCR to have uniform curfew hours

By Chito Chavez Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año on Sunday remained optimistic that the 17 Metro Manila local government units (LGUs) will have uniform curfew hours by today, March 16 in accordance with the resolution issued by the Metro Manila Council (MMC). Under the Metro Manila Council resolution, the proposed curfew in all Metro Manila cities will be from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning March 15 until April 14. However, Año said they have yet to make a concrete assessment on the effects of the community quarantine to the mobility of people. Since it is Sunday, March 15, Año traffic flow is not at its peak yet saying the assessment will be made when workers living outside Metro Manila and are employed in the region will start filling the streets of the metropolis. He noted that the police may close some roads to establish chokepoints where motorists coming from outside Metro Manila may pass through while assessing other strategies which may be employed. Año is scheduled to meet the President anew to discuss possible adjustments that may be carried out with regards to the community quarantine in the metropolis.
