Albay, Sorsogon declared under state of calamity' due to COVID-19

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay - The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Albay (SPA) and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Sorsogon (SPS) have approved on Tuesday resolutions, declaring their provinces under a state of calamity due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Albay Board Member Neil Montallana told the Manila Bulletin that SPA unanimously approved Resolution No. 00357-2020, putting the entire Albay, including its cities, municipalities and barangays under a state of calamity.
The resolution authorized Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara to utilize 30 percent of the five percent calamity fund for COVID-19 response.
The Sorsogon SP also approved Tuesday, declaring the entire province under state of calamity.
Through the Resolution No. 03, series of 2020 of Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (SPDRMC), and through the motion of Board Member Edmundo Atutubo, the entire province placed under a state of calamity due to localized COVID-19 transmission.
