The following Cabinet secretaries confirmed their attendance to President Duterte's fifth SONA after undergoing PCR test and testing negative for COVID-19: presidential spokesman Harry Roque, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, Chief presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, and Agriculture Secretary William Dar.
Fifteen Cabinet Secretaries were allowed to be at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday. Both Nograles and Roque confirmed their attendance last week.
Roque, however, will be taking his seat as a former member of the House of Representatives with his former colleagues. However, he is still counted as part of Malacañang's delegation.
Meanwhile, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said he will not be attending the SONA even though he already tested negative for COVID-19.
Instead, Andanar, in an interview with ANC, said he will be working from home to make sure that the coverage of the event will be unhampered.
"I will be here managing from home. I have a lot of things going on. We have the Zoom viewing room for the Cabinet members who will not be going to the Batasan. We also have a viewing room for our LGUs," he said.
"I will also be managing the RTVM from here. I will make sure that broadcast is unhampered during the SONA and we will ensure that the entire population gets to watch the President from all screens," he added.
The Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM), the broadcast media group of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), is the only group allowed to cover the SONA due to COVID-19 restrictions.
