“There are currently two ships from China that are berthed at Pier 15, South Harbor in Port Area, Manila,” the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The “World Dream Cruise Ship” that came from Hong Kong arrived Tuesday morning carrying a total of 778 passengers. According to Captain Armand Balilo, the cruise ship was supposed to carry 4,000 passengers “but it did not stop on ports in China and Hong Kong.”
A cargo vessel, “MV Ligulao” from Lianyungang, Jiangsu, China, which is almost 900 kilometers away from Wuhan where the deadly 2019-novel coronavirus originated, arrived at Pier 15 in South Harbor Monday.
“Upon coordinating with the PCG port state control officers at Pier 15, they confirmed that both vessels were cleared and declared safe by the Bureau of Quarantine during mandatory inspections,” the Coast Guard assured.
The PCG furthered that the World Dream Cruise Ship was scheduled to leave Manila for Subic Tuesday night but the trip was canceled Tuesday afternoon and will instead return to Hong Kong Wednesday. This came amid the heightened alert placed over sea ports and airports in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone due to the 2019-novel coronavirus outbreak.
MV Ligulao, on the other hand, has 20 crew members on board but they are not allowed to alight from the ship as they have no shore pass to do so. The vessel will leave the Philippines on Tuesday night, the Coast Guard said.
