COTABATO CITY (PNA) – Two children, aged four and six years old, from this city were among the eight new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Region 12 (Soccsksargen), bringing the total number to 359 as of Sunday, the regional Department of Health (DOH) office said.
In the same case bulletin, DOH-Soccsksargen also reported nine new recoveries, raising the total survivors to 244, or for a recover rate of 68 percent.
“The two new cases of young patients in Cotabato City were triggered by their exposure to another COVID-19 patient,” said Arjohn Gangoso, speaking for DOH-Soccsksargen.
Despite the new cases, this city still has the lowest number of COVID-19 patients in the region. As of Sunday, the city had 36 positive patients, 28 of whom have recovered and eight are active.
South Cotabato topped local government units in the region with the highest number of confirmed cases at 82, followed by Sarangani (72), Sultan Kudarat (70), North Cotabato (50), and General Santos City (49).
Gangoso reiterated calls by the DOH for the public to observe “WOW”--Wear facemask at all times, Observe physical distancing, and Wash hands regularly with soap, to contain the spread of the virus.
