For DOT-6 Director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez, this is an indicator that the region’s economy as a whole is bouncing back from the impact of the pandemic.

“When you talk of tourism, it’s not just about destinations. We also talk about the job it generates,” said Rodriguez.

The job fair mostly has openings in hotels, restaurants, recreation parks, and spas.

The event also features non-tourism employment opportunities, including from business process outsourcing (BPO) companies.

Region 6 is home to world-famous Boracay Island in Malay town, Aklan province.

Tourism workers in the country’s most famous beach destination mostly are from Western Visayas.
