ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod has barred the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) from opening satellite offices or any similar facilities here.
The proposal was contained in a resolution unanimously approved by the august body during their regular session on Monday, March 27.
The council also approved a resolution asking the BARMM government to stop operating two of its satellite offices in this city.
These are the Ministry of Health satellite office in Barangay San Roque and the BARMM project monitoring facility inside the District Engineering Office compound in Barangay Divisoria.
Councilor Charlie Mariano, author of the resolution, described the health satellite structure as one “built secretly and without the requisite building and other permits.”
Mariano was referring to a notice of violation issued by the Zamboanga City Hall to the newly established health satellite office.
Meanwhile, the city council also approved a resolution asking President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to execute a provision under Republic Act 11054, the BARMM Organic Law, to purchase all properties of the BARMM in areas that have voted to stay out of the region.
Zamboanga City residents have voted in two previous plebiscites against inclusion in the BARMM.
