Based on the city ordinance, the tricycle fare in the city will increase from P8.00 to P12. The fare will also have an additional of 0.50 centavos from the minimum distance per kilometer. For special trips, the fare will triple to P36.

The city government said students, senior citizens, and persons with disability (PWDs) can still avail of the 20 percent discount by just showing their identification cards (ID).

According to Mayor Eric Olivarez,  the increase in the minimum tricycle fare was made on the request of Federation of Parañaque Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (FEPTODA) President Mr. Rodrigo C. Soriano. The request was approved by the City Council.

Olivarez said the minimum tricycle fare in the city had remained at P8 since 2008.

He said the price of gasoline during the 2008 approval of the P8 minimum tricycle fare in the city was only P35 to P40 per liter compared to almost P60 per liter this year.
