Navotas LGU recognized for excellence in digitalization of business processes
The Navotas City government was recognized by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) for being one of the local government units (LGUs) that showed excellence in the digitalization and simplification of business permit and licensing procedures, and fully setting up an electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS) that provide convenience to residents.
The certificate of commendation was conferred by ARTA Director General Secretary Ernesto V. Perez to Navotas City Mayor John Reynald “John Rey” Tiangco on Tuesday, March 28, for the city’s compliance to Republic Act 11032 (Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018).
The award was given to the city following an inspection and evaluation conducted by ARTA Compliance Monitoring and Evaluation Office (CMEO).
The local government said that through its eBOSS facility, businesses in the city can apply, renew, and pay for their permits while in the comfort of their own homes or offices.
It added that digitalization of government processes ensures that red tape and corruption during transactions would be minimized, if not eliminated.
“As directed by the president, President Bongbong Marcos, the best way to battle red tape is through streamlining and digitalization of government processes. And today we are celebrating because the City of Navotas has complied with the requirement to set up and operationalize an electronic Business One-Stop Shop, an end-to-end process that make it easier for people to deal, to apply, and get their business permits in a matter of hours,” Perez said.
Perez also lauded the local government for its Construction One-Stop Shop that gives a quick and and easy way of obtaining construction and occupancy documents in the city.
Republic Act 11032 aims to streamline the current systems and procedures of government services and facilitate prompt actions or resolution of all government transactions with efficiency, according to ARTA.
“We are grateful to ARTA for granting us this recognition. This is a testament to our city government’s commitment to provide the highest level of service to our constituents,” Tiangco said.
ARTA is the government agency mandated to administer and implement the Republic Act 11032 and to monitor and ensure compliance with the national policy on anti-red tape and ease of doing business in the country (according to arta.gov.ph)
