Missing student from Samar found alive near river bank

Samar State University student Darlene Luzelle R. Uy, who was reported missing on March 23, was found alive near the river bank of the Antiao River in Barangay Canlapwas, Catbalogan City on Tuesday, March 28.

This was confirmed by the Catbalogan City Police Station in a Facebook post.

The 22-year-old student was brought to the Catbalogan Doctors Hospital for immediate medical assistance.

"While the Investigation is still ongoing to shed light on the cause of her disappearance. We assure the public and the people of Catbalogan City to remain calm and have faith on the authorities on doing their job," Catbalogan City Police Station said.

Her parents, Ramonito and Citadel Uy, earlier offered a P250,000 reward to whoever could give information about their daughter's location.

Uy is a practicing student teacher at Catbalogan I Central Elementary School, which is within the vicinity of the river where she was located.

On March 23, she left their workstation around 3 p.m. with her phone and P20 in hand and did not return since then.

A missing person report was filed the following day and an investigation has been conducted.

The Manila Bulletin has reached out to the Uy family, but there was no response.
