Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto promised new and improved systems in ensuring ease of doing business in the city.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto
During the city government's general assembly on Monday, March 27, Sotto said that for the year 2023, the LGU will introduce new systems and changes in its procedures in delivering public service to the community, particularly Pasig's IT systems.
He stressed the importance of these improvements not just for the benefit of Pasigueños but for the development of the city itself.
"Sa lahat ng ginagawa natin, madali man o mahirap, isa lang naman po ang lagi nating iniisip: Paano mapapadali ang buhay ng ating mga kliyente o mga mamamayang Pasigueño. Kung mapapadali natin ang buhay nila, mas lalago ang negosyo at ekonomiya sa Pasig, mas maraming magkakatrabaho, at mas gaganda ang buhay ng bawa't isa sa atin (In everything that we do, I always keep this in mind: How do we make life easier for our Pasigueño citizens? If we were able to make their lives much convenient, the businesses and economy of Pasig will thrive and our constituents will have jobs, making each and everyone's lives much better)," Sotto said.
The city government was previously lauded by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) during its inspection of the city's Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS).
Pasig City Vice Mayor Robert "Dodot" Jaworski Jr. and other city officials welcomed the ARTA team led by Secretary and Director General Ernesto Perez.
On-site inspections by ARTA are mandated by Republic Act (RA) 11032 or the "Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018."
According to ARTA, the Compliance Monitoring and Evaluation Office (CMEO) continuously monitors the compliance of local governments and other government agencies to anti-red tape and ease of doing business practices.
Compliance is based on the Citizen's Charter Information Billboard, Citizen's Charter handbook, and Feedback and Complaints Mechanism.
ARTA regularly conducts the inspections during the business registration and renewal seasons, particularly at the beginning of the year.
Last Jan. 19, Perez urged local governments to "fast-track the establishment of the electronic BOSS (e-BOSS)" in order to digitize and streamline their processing and licensing systems.
In 2020, ARTA and Sotto signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish an Anti-Red Tape Unit (ARTU), making Pasig City ARTA's first local government partner.
In 2021, ARTA hailed the Pasig local government for its Online Payment Facility wherein residents can pay their annual real property tax for 2022.
