Jay Chou tops global album sales in 2022; 6 K-pop groups, Taylor Swift in top 10
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has released the global rankings for album sales, vinyl albums and streaming albums for 2022.
Under the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart, Mandopop singer Jay Chou claimed the No. 1 spot for his “Greatest Works of Art.”

The chart “ranks the biggest albums of the year based on the number of units sold across all physical formats (CD, Vinyl, etc) and including paid full album downloads.”
BTS placed second with their “Proof” album, which was released in June 2022. In South Korea, the album sold 7.37 million copies based on Hanteo Chart data.
Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” ranked third in global album sales followed by K-pop boy band Stray Kids’ “Maxident.”
K-pop idol group Seventeen’s “Face The Sun” grabbed fifth place while K-pop boy band ENHYPEN’s “Manifesto: Day 1” took sixth place.
Placing seventh to 10th are BLACKPINK’s “Born Pink,” Stray Kids’ “Oddinary,” Seventeen’s “Sector 17” and Tomorrow X Together’s “Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child.”
