Rosalinda Faustino bagged one gold and one silver medal to cap off the Philippines’ campaign in the IWF World Youth Championships in Durres, Albania Monday, March 27.

The 15-year-old Faustino bounced back from a fourth-place finish in snatch (78kg) by capturing the clean and jerk gold medal with a lift of 100kg to settle for the silver medal in the women’s 55kg.
She had a 178kg total to finish behind gold medalist Gelen Yulieth Torres Gomez of Colombia, who finished with 182 kg.
It was a successful showing for the PH weightlifting team in the ongoing tournament after sending five athletes in.
All lifters went home with medals, showcasing the future of the sport in the country that has given the country its first Olympic gold medal courtesy of Hidilyn Diaz in the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Prince Kiel Delos Santos collected two golds in the men’s 49kg; Eron Borres went home with one gold, one silver and one bronze also in the men’s 49kg; Albert Ian Delos Santos grabbed two golds and one silver in the men’s 61kg; and Angeline Colonia pocketed one gold and one silver in the women’s 45kg.
Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas President Monico Puentevella hopes the success of the team would bolster the association’s grassroots program.
