F2 Logistics turned back PLDT, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-15, to take home its first podium in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference Tuesday, March 28, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
After making their breakthrough in the semifinals for the first time since joining, the Cargo Movers wouldn’t go home empty-handed with a bronze medal — their best season finish in the tournament.
Kianna Dy dropped 19 points for F2 Logistics off 15 attacks, three blocks and an ace, while Ara Galang had her conference-high 14 points.
Aby Maraño contributed 11 markers, while Kim Fajarodo also delivered her conference-high 11 laced by 24 excellent sets.
F2 Logistics untangled itself from the fourth deadlock of the fourth set of 8-all, which was the last time PLDT managed to keep itself close.
The Cargo Movers then went on a blistering 13-3 run capped by Pablo’s down-the-line kill to stretch their lead in double digits, 21-11.
However, the High Speed Hitters responded with their own 4-0 run to breathe some life into their podium bid and trimmed the deficit by single digit capped by a Mika Reyes service ace.
But Dy brought the Cargo Movers into the match point with a through-the-block hit before Maraño delivered the clincher with a running attack.
Dell Palomata paced the High Speed Hitters with 16 points built on 12 attacks and four blocks, while Me-An Mendrez and Jovie Prado chipped in 14 and 13, respectively. Mich Morente also had a 12-point outing in the losing effort.
