Disney characters will take to the streets of Antipolo City on Saturday, April 1, as the Pilgrimage Capital of the country celebrates its 25 cityhood anniversary.
The office of Mayor Casimiro “Junjun” Ynares III announced that the grandest float parade for this year will showcase the Disney Pixar movie characters that will represent the city's 16 villages.
Mar Bacani, the city’s tourism office head, said at least 15 drum and lyre bands, along with the city band, will march to the streets during the float parade that will start at 3:30 p.m. at Sumulong Park beside the City Hall and end at the Ynares Center ground in the evening.
City hall officials and employees will also take part in the annual event that was shelved during the height of the pandemic.
This year’s theme is “Pananampalataya, Malasakit, Katatagan at Pag-unlad.”
Motorists are warned that heavy traffic might happen during the time of the parade as the major streets in the vicinity of the city hall will be closed.
The road closure from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on April 1 will be implemented in the following:
P. Oliveros Street, General Luna Street, C. Lawis Street, Sto. Nino Street, Sumulong Street, portion of M.L. Quezon Street going to Shopwise, and the right lane of Circumferential Road going to Ynares Center.
After the parade, there will be a free concert at 7 p.m. at the Ynares Center with Silent Sanctuary as guest performer.
