505 QC families complete DSWD’s 4Ps program


Some 505 families in Quezon City completed the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) “Pangtawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” on Monday, March 27.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the recognition of the beneficaries  at the Quezon City Hall compound, along with Director Monina Josefina Romualdez of the DSWD National Capital Region. 

The city government said the beneficiaries received certificates for being able to improve their lives with the help of the program.

DSWD’s 4Ps is a national poverty reduction strategy and a human capital investment program that provides cash transfer to qualified household-beneficiaries. 

It aims to improve the health and nutrition of children and pregnant woman; increase the enrollment and attendance rate of the children in schools; provide financial help; encourage parents to invest in their children’s health, nutrition, and education; and  enhance performance of parenting roles through various community development activities (according to fo1.dswd.gov.ph). Beneficiaries may receive cash grants under the program within a seven year period.

Belmonte said the city government will continue to assist the beneficiaries by conducting livelihood and skills training, education assistance, and other programs for their development.

Present during the event were Social Services Development Head Rowena Macatao, City Council Chairman of Committee on Social Services Councilor Joseph Juico, Mr Rogelio Reyes of the City Public Employment Services Office, and Director Emmanuel Borromeo of the Department of Interior and Local Government - National Capital Region.
