Climaco told the media Monday that the patient was currently confined at the COVID-19 Isolation Room of the West Metro Medical Center (WMMC) in this city. Climaco said the patient was fine, and was resting at the isolation room. According to the mayor, due to strict measures and protocols implemented by the hospital administration and its health workers, the patient was screened early, and immediately isolated. Climaco said the patient will be transferred soon to the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC), the center for COVID-19 patients in this city. She also thanked WMMC’s front liners and management for caring for the COVID-19 patient, while protecting the community and health care system. “I am asking the residents in this city and that of Tumaga village to remain calm, and not to panic as the area where the patient resides has been place under lock down to prevent the residents of the subdivision from moving in and out.” She said the local government here, personnel and officials of WMMC, and health authorities were following protocols for the proper handling of the city’s second COVID-19 case, and have initiated contact tracing. Climaco said the patient arrived in this city on March 1 via Cebu Pacific after attending a seminar in Manila. As of March 30, Climaco said the city has recorded 56 patients under investigation (PUIs), and out of this number, 17 have tested negative for the virus. A total of 1,995 were listed as persons under monitoring (PUMs), with 1,392 already cleared after they completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
