(MANILA BULLETIN) DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said aside from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the agency, through its Field Offices (FOs) began distributing the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash aid to left-out beneficiaries in other areas. "Kahapon po nag umpisa tayo sa (Yesterday, we started in) Region I and today, we will be starting with Region III para dun sa kanilang waitlisted beneficiaries (for their waitlisted beneficiaries)," she said in a television interview. Last June 16, the DSWD conducted the SAP payout to waitlisted beneficiaries in Kapangan, Benguet, and Baguio City. Around 266 families from Kapangan, Benguet and 290 families from Baguio City received P5,500 each during the June 16 pilot payout activities, the DSWD said. Dumlao noted that the DSWD already distributed more than P6.74 billion worth of second tranche of cash subsidies to over 1.3 million beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who are cash card holders. "We hope to finish itong pamamahagi ng ayuda sa lalong madaling panahon bago po matapos ang buwan na ito," she said. (We hope to finish the distribution of cash aid as soon as possible or before this month ends.) She said covered by the second phase implementation of SAP are Region III, except Aurora province, the NCR, CALABARZON, Benguet, Pangasinan, Iloilo, Cebu Province, Bacolod City, Davao City, Albay Province, and Zamboanga City. "Para sa second tranche ng SAP, tayo po ay magbibigay ng ayuda sa 17 million beneficiaries," Dumlao said. (For the second tranche of SAP, we will give cash aid to 17 million beneficiaries.) She said all the five million "waitlisted" beneficiaries nationwide as approved by President Duterte for inclusion in the program will receive the first tranche of cash subsidies. Of the total number, around 3.5 million waitlisted family-beneficiaries are expected to receive the first and second waves of cash aid. Also included in the list of SAP beneficiaries for the second tranche are the more than 8.5 million low-income families in enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) areas, Dumlao said.
