W. Visayas COVID-19 cases rise to 4

By Tara Yap Iloilo City—The number of positive COVID-19 cases in the Western Visayas region has risen to four. Dr. Marlyn Convocar, Western Visayas regional director for the Department of Health (DOH), announced late Tuesday afternoon that there were two more positive COVID-19 cases. This number includes the first COVID-19-positive case for Capiz province. Convocar said he is a 45-year-old male from Jamindan town. The other new positive case is a 61-year-old woman from Iloilo City. Convocar said both new cases have recent travel history in Metro Manila, where there are many confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease. “Again, we are doing tracing of anyone these two people may have come in contact with,” Convocar said. The first COVID-19 case in the Western Visayas region is a 56-year-old man from Bacolod City who had travel history in London, England. The region’s second case is a 65-year-old man from Guimbal town, Iloilo province. He had no recent travel history, but was exposed to relatives who recently visited Japan.
