Valenzuela City's COVID-19 infection trajectory known in 10 days - Gatchalian

Valenzuela City will be able to determine its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection trajectory after 10 days when all its targeted residents have already been tested, Mayor Rex Gatchalian said Wednesday.
Gatchalian said it is still "very early" for the city to say if they are already flattening the curve because, as of press time, there are only about 125 residents who have been tested under the city's mass testing program.

"Give us probably 10 days. At least by then, you would see already the actual number. So we can actually draw you the curve ng Valenzuela kung nasaan na kami," he said in a press conference.
After inking a partnership with another laboratory that will process more tests for the city, Gatchalian expressed confidence that by Monday next week, all their suspected cases, health workers, and front liners have already been tested. There are still about 1,400 of them, said Zyan Caiña, head of the city's public information office.
Once mass testing is done, Valenzuela will already completely know who among its residents are positive for COVID-19.
As of press time, Valenzuela has 46 confirmed COVID-19 cases, three recoveries, four deaths, and 195 suspected cases.
Former Valenzuela Mayor and now Senator Win Gatchalian said that one of the “minimum conditions” to be met before lifting the lockdown is to see the flattening of the curve.
He said it is important for local government heads to ensure that all their constituents are staying at home and those who are violating quarantine rules are arrested.
“They have to make sure that hindi ningas kugon itong ECQ natin until the very end... we will lose the gains,” the legislator added.
