Two more cops die of COVID-19

By Aaron Recuenco Two more policemen died of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as the Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to be in the frontline to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said one of the two fatalities of COVID-19 is from Cebu, one of the provinces where cases of coronavirus infection is high. With the two new fatalities, the death toll of COVID-19 in the PNP is now at seven. The two fatalities were identified only as Patient Number PNP-390, a 46-year old cop; and Patient Number PNP-400, aged 29. PNP-390 was admitted on June 4 at the hospital due to fever, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, dizziness, and nausea. He had undergone the coronavirus test on June 10 and tested positive. On June 14, he was declared dead. PNP-400, on the other hand, was admitted at the hospital on June 7 due to a motorcycle accident. On June 8, he underwent a test and tested positive. On June 14, he was declared dead. Banac said the number of policemen infected also went up as 19 more cops tested positive for the virus. From 395 on Saturday, the figure is now at 414. Among these number of cases, 136 patients are in quarantine facilities, 15 are admitted in hospitals, and 16 are undergoing home quarantine. Banac said a total of 240 policemen have already recovered.
