Two-day lockdown in Caloocan barangay set

By Joseph Pedrajas A barangay in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City will be placed under total lockdown starting Wednesday, May 13, in a bid to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the area. The entire Barangay 156 will undergo a two-day lockdown, according to the city’s public information office, after posting one of the highest COVID-19 cases in the city. As of Tuesday, the area already has 25 confirmed COVID-19 cases. In an advisory uploaded by the youth council on its Facebook page, it reminded its residents that the effectivity of quarantine passes is cancelled during the period of the lockdown and everybody is encouraged to only stay at home. Nobody is allowed to enter and get out of the village, except those exempted workers. During the two-day lockdown, the local government would conduct swab testing to targeted residents, particularly those identified through disease surveillance and contact tracing. Officers of Barangay 156 assured its constituents adequate water supply. "Mayor Oca Malapitan was set to visit the area for inspection," Kate Javier, public information officer, said.
