Three more personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday (July 9), MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago said in the day’s Laging Handa press briefing,
This brings the total number of its personnel who contracted the virus recently to nine.
“Yung pinaka-latest po na tally o bilang ng mga natamaan ng COVID sa aming agency, una po yung apat, nasundan po ng dalawa kahapon, then kanina...may tatlo pong nadagdag doon sa nagpositibo sa COVID (The latest tally on the number of COVID cases in our agency was first the four personnel. then followed by two yesterday, then earlier there were three more added to those who tested positive for COVID),” Pialago said.
On Tuesday, MMDA said that work at its headquarters in Makati City would be suspended on July 9 and 10 after four of its personnel tested positive for COVID-19.
“Upon the recommendation of the MMDA COVID-19 Committee, we have decided to suspend the operations at all our offices for sanitation and disinfection to protect not only our personnel but also the transacting public against the virus,” MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim said in an earlier statement.
“We assure the public that our offices will resume operations as soon as we have completed the sanitation and disinfection of our all offices by Monday,” he added.
MMDA said the offices of the personnel who have contracted the virus have been placed on lockdown and been sanitized.
Contact tracing has also been made to determine who had close contact with the COVID-19 positive individuals. They were also ordered to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
“This pandemic is a difficult time for all of us and we must do everything we can to protect our personnel and visitors,” Lim said.
