TACLOBAN CITY – City Mayor Alfred Romualdez has issued an executive order, enforcing a "lockdown" or intensified restrictions starting Saturday, March 21, until April 12 in support of the national government's effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The order will require all persons who have no reason to go outside to observe home quarantine procedures as directed by health officials, and to wear masks when going out.
"All elderly, pregnant women, children, and other persons with high risk of infection shall remain indoors at all times," he said.
Romualdez also ordered all business establishments and industries within the city to stop their operations except hospitals, utility providers, media outlets, restaurants, banks, money remittance, courier service, among others.
All land, sea, and air travel of persons to and from the city are likewise prohibited except health care workers, media, national government officials, law enforcers, and those availing medical services.
He added that all public utility vehicles would no longer be allowed to enter the city except public transport carrying passengers within the city provided they carry half capacity and observe social distancing.
Romualdez has also ordered all barangays to set up their own border points to regulate the movement of people within the community.
Classes in all levels in public and private schools remain suspended until April 12, while heads of national government agencies are enjoined to implement alternative work arrangements to ensure the delivery of public service.
