SULTAN KUDARAT – The Department of Health (DOH)–Soccsksargen confirmed two more cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday, bringing the total number of positives in the region to 37.
As of 6 p.m. on June 12, the agency bared that the 36th and 37th cases of the region were both from the province of South Cotabato.
The 36th case was a 23-year old female, who arrived in the province last May 31 with travel history from Cebu, while the 37th case is a 37-year-old male, who arrived in the province on June, and had travel history in Metro Manila.
The reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test conducted from the swab specimens taken from them yielded positive result for COVID-19.
Both of them are in stable condition, the agency said. However, it was not disclosed if the patients were either symptomatic or not.
With the two new cases, the province of South Cotabato now has a total of nine confirmed positives, four of which have already recovered.
Based on a report from the South Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), the province currently has five remaining active cases, all of which are on the provinces designated isolation facilities.
Soccskargen region has a total of 29 reported COVID-19 recoveries from the 37 positive cases, and one recorded fatality from the province of Sultan Kudarat.
