China is set to deliver this week 400,000 doses more of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) vaccines to the Philippines, Chinese Ambassador to Manila Huang Xilian said on Monday.

This will be the second batch of vaccines from the Chinese government following the delivery of more than 600,000 doses of Sinovac CoronaVac vaccines on February 28, 2021, bringing the total amount of donations to one million doses.
“Race against time! The second batch of China-donated Vaccines is arriving soon,” Huang said in a Facebook post.
The Chinese envoy said his team has been working round the clock with their Philippine counterparts for the arrival later this week of 400,000 doses of vaccines donated by the Chinese government.
“No one is safe until everyone is safe. In the face of the spread of new COVID-19 variants across the globe, and the resurgence of cases in the Philippines, we need to race against time in our efforts to speed up the mass inoculation process,” he said.
Earlier, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. conveyed his appreciation to China for the forthcoming delivery of the vaccines.
“Thank you, China,” Locsin said in a tweet in response to a report of the impending arrival of the Chinese vaccine donations.
The first delivery of the Chinese-made vaccines enabled the Philippines to roll out the mass vaccination of health care workers on March 1, 2021. It was the first COVID-19 vaccine to reach the Philippines.
