Colegio San Agustin—Makati's official statement after student athlete collapsed at soccer game

Last Sunday, March 26, 2023, was supposed to be a day of fun and healthy competition between student athletes as they competed in soccer games. But it ended with a child collapsing during the game. Below is the official statement released by Colegio San Agustin, Makati. "It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the passing of one of our student-athletes last Sunday, March 26, 2023. The student was participating in a football varsity game outside the school when he collapsed. He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, but could no longer be revived. The cause of death is still unclear at this moment we were informed that the hospital needs to conduct further examinations. The school is closely coordinating with the family and the hospital personnel for more details, and for any assistance which the school may provide. Meanwhile, we ask the community to join us in prayer for the student's bereft family during this most difficult time.
Please note that the school wants to support all those affected by this news. Our guidance counselors and Wellness Office are available to students who need special attention and support. If you feel that your child is struggling, please do not hesistate to use our communication channels to coordinate with us.
