Zamora said San Juan, which is the epicenter of the local transmission of COVID-19 in the country, currently has a case doubling time of eight and a half days as of May 15.
According to him, the doubling time of COVID-19 cases became “even slower” compared to the previous case doubling time of at least seven days.
The mayor has also issued on Sunday updates about the ongoing mass testing in the city, as the National Capital Region (NCR) shifted into Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) on May 16.
As of May 15, Zamora said a total of 3,216 COVID-19 tests were conducted by the local government.
Out of the 2,105 test results that have been released recently, he said that only 36 persons tested positive for the disease, which accounts to a positivity rate of 1.7 percent.
“We will continue to implement strict protocols to ensure the safety and good health of San Juaneños during the MECQ,” Zamora said.
As of May 16, the local government disclosed that there were 285 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in San Juan City, with 38 deaths, and 82 recoveries.
