Robredo turns over temporary shelters for frontliners in QC hospital
Medical frontliners have now a place to “rest and recharge” after their long shifts treating coronavirus patients at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City.

Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday formally opened the temporary shelters at the second site of The Oasis Project for health workers.
Robredo, a leader of the opposition, inaugurated and turned over two housing units that can accommodate 20 medical frontliners at the hospital.
These temporary shelters are the latest initiative of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and Angat Buhay partners in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The OVP partnered with the Rotary Club of San Juan Del Monte and Architect Peach Buencamino, in cooperation with interior designers Cynthia and Ivy Almario and landscape architect Rene Heray, for the project.
According to the OVP, IKEA Philippines donated these housing units that arrived from Poland in May. The 51st Engineering Brigade of the Philippine Army assisted in building these shelters.
Robredo’s office said the hospital was chosen for the project since it has at least 100 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
The QMMC is the fourth hospital where OVP and its partners built the temporary shelters. The others are the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City, Manila Doctors Hospital and Chinese Doctors Hospital, both in Manila.
“These hospitals need temporary shelters to be used either as extension of their COVID facilities or as in-house shelter for hospital personnel handling COVID cases,” OVP said.
