Replacing Bongbong as president? Sara says idea is 'unpleasant'

Vice presidential aspirant Sara Duterte-Carpio said Sunday she finds it "unpleasant" to talk about her having to replace presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. should he win and get disqualified from the position.

Duterte-Carpio in a statement said it is "exceptionally unpleasant" for her to be talking about it because "in reality, both of us are yet to win the elections."

"It is putting the cart before the horse," Duterte-Carpio said.

The presidential daughter also said there is no discussion about it between her and Marcos Jr.

"I am not entertaining the thoughts of a possible replacement as I also do not look forward to a scenario of a disqualified BBMâ€”before or after the elections," she said.

Duterte-Carpio said she maintains that the disqualification cases filed against her partner "have no basis at all."

According to the presidential daughter, these cases are only orchestrated by people against Marcos Jr. who are "desperate to regain control of our country, never mind if they sow divisiveness among our people, never mind if they undermine our freedom, never mind if they make a mockery of our laws."

Marcos Jr. is still awaiting the decision of Commission on Elections (Comelec) 1st Division over the consolidated disqualification petitions against his candidacy.
