Rehab center in Malagos turned into PUI quarantine site in Davao City

DAVAO CITY - A health official here revealed that a facility in Malagos, Calinan District was already operational and was ready serve as quarantine center for those who may be suspected to have the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Department of Health Regional Director Dr. Annabelle Yumang said during a press conference on Wednesday that the Rehabilitation Center in Malagos has been transformed into a facility that could accommodate patients under investigation (PUIs) in the city.
As of now, Yumang revealed that there were 13 PUIs with mild symptoms who are staying in Malagos.
“In here, we can put patients who do not have to go to the hospital anymore,” she said.
Meanwhile, Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Chief Dr. Leopoldo Vega said during the press conference that all moderate, critical, severe (patients) COVID-19 patients could be accommodated by SPMC.
“This will be the only hospital which will be catering to COVID-19 patients, so that other hospitals will be free to take in non-COVID-19 patients,” he added.
He said that PUI admission for moderate and severe will be at the hospital private wing, and for critical cases, they will be sent to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or to the isolation facility.
Vega added that as of Wednesday, 43 PUIs are at SPMC, three of which were in critical condition with different cases of pneumonia.
He also said that SPMC has readied all their facilities for COVID-19 patients as they also have the reagents for testing.
