Rama's party throws support to BBM-Sara duo

CEBU CITY — The tandem og Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte- Carpio has drawn support from another Cebu-based political group.

The Partido BARUG-PDP Laban headed by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama on Wednesday, Jan. 26, announced that it is supporting the tandem of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio in the May elections.

“Now we officially make a statement that our Presidential candidate is BBM, Bongbong Marcos, so that ends this particular saga in what we call the waiting time," Rama, who heads the party, said in a press conference.

The party previously endorsed Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, who eventually withdrew from the presidential race.

Following Go's withdrawal, Rama said they would endorse whoever President Rodrigo Duterte will support.

Rama refused to answer queries if the President is also supporting Marcos since they are endorsing the candidacy of the former senator.

“We do not want to be the spokesperson of the President. We have to leave it to the President but definitely us in the local scene, we would wish that in the days to come that whoever the President will anoint will ally with us but we don’t dictate the President," Rama said.

BARUG's announcement came a day after the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (BAKUD) in Cebu's Fifth District announced its support to Marcos and Duterte-Carpio.

BAKUD is headed by the influential Durano clan in Danao City.
