With the soaring number of COVID-19 patients, Mayor Joy Belmonte appealed to local residents to remain in their homes to avoid contracting the virus.

Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)
Belmonte explained that the extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)  is in effect over the barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission of the disease is highly possible.
However, this is subject to review everyday depending on the number of cases / recoveries.
The newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list because of the ongoing validation.
As of 7 p.m. on Friday (March 27), the Quezon City government is implementing the EECQ in Barangays Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Belmonte said Barangay Central was added to the list even if it does not have any COVID-19 patients due to the presence of numerous hospitals along East Avenue which is in its area.
Decontamination efforts
The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Quezon City Fire Department have continuously disinfected the city’s streets and highways.
On March 2767 barangays were disinfected as part of the simultaneous decontamination operations with the total of disinfected barangays now at 119.
Food pack distribution
The latest report shows that the city government had already distributed 730,000 food packs to the 142 barangays.
Meeting with private hospitals in QC
Belmonte also met with representatives of the city-based private hospitals to align the protocols in handling persons under monitoring (PUMs), persons under investigation (PUIs), and patients withconfirmed cases of COVID-19.
The goal is for the private hospitals to provide better accommodation, transportation, and services for these patients.
Belmonte also called on the private sector to work closely with City Hall to update their capacity to admit cases, and flag the local government if they will send home PUIs awaiting results or positive patients that need quarantine facilities.
The mayor also offered the services of the local government, such as quarantine facilities, accommodations for health workers and frontliners, and free shuttle services.
Market disinfection
The Market Development and Administration Department led the disinfection of four markets: Galas, Kamuning, Roxas, and San Jose.
