QC reports 13 new COVID-19 recoveries

By Chito Chavez The number of recoveries from COVID-19 in Quezon City (QC) increased by 13, upping its total to 242 from the previous 229 as of 7 p.m. of May 1, the Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) said. In the same period, the QCHD reported one additional COVID-19 death, bringing the tally to 129 from the previous 128. The Department of Health (DOH) as of 7 p.m. of May 1 recorded 1,312 confirmed COVID-19 cases, compared to the previous 1,302 for a difference of ten. As in previous tallies, the 994 validated cases of the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit QCESU) and District Health Offices, which are 33 more than the previous 961, differed from the DOH data. The active COVID-19 cases in the city -- pertaining to those who have not fully recovered --- is now 623, for an increase of 19 from the previous 604. In the same report, the number of confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City stood at 1,152, 14 more than the previous 1,138. Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ) Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government implements the EECQ in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and in various streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely to occur. However, Belmonte said this will still be subjected to daily review depending on the number of cases/recoveries. She noted the newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list as they are still subjected to validation. As of 7 p.m. of May 1, the Quezon City government has imposed EECQ in the following barangays: Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth, Pansol, North Fairview, Novaliches Proper, and New Era. Hope 1 facility As of May 1, Hope 1 has seven available rooms for COVID-19 confirmed and suspected patients. Hope 2 facility At present, 122 rooms at Hope 2 are occupied by confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients, while 162 beds remain available. Those who have been tested at the city’s community-based testing center are brought to this facility for self-isolation while waiting for their results. Quarantine violators At around 5 p.m. of May 1, 47 persons were apprehended for violating the ECQ protocols. Social Amelioration Program (SAP) The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in partnership with the city government, has started distributing the financial support to qualified beneficiaries under the SAP. As of May 1, 42,255 payouts under SAP were completed. Belmonte encouraged the public to contact the city government through email [email protected] if they want to raise concerns about the subsidy.
