QC now has 113 COVID-19 cases, 19 deaths and 9 recoveries

By Chito Chavez From the previous 104, the number of novel coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) cases in Quezon City soared to 113 with 19 deaths and nine patients recovered as of 7 pm of March 28, 2020. The nine new COVID-19 cases are from the following barangays: District 1
  • Brgy. Masambong - one patient
  • Brgy. Sto. Cristo - one patient
District 2
  • Brgy. Batasan Hills - one patient
District 3
  • Brgy. Libis - one patient
  • Brgy. Matandang Balara - one patient
District 4
  • Brgy. Kristong Hari - one patient
  • Brgy. Sikatuna Village - one patient
District 6
  • Brgy. Pasong Tamo - two patients
The Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) in its latest report said that Barangays Bagong Pag-asa, Bahay Toro, Bungad, Del Monte, Lourdes, Maharlika, Manresa, Mariblo, Masambong, Phil-am, Project 6, Ramon Magsaysay, San Antonio, San Isidro Labrador, San Jose, Siena, Sto. Cristo and West Triangle in the first district have COVID-19 patients. Barangays Bagong Silangan and Batasan Hills in district two and Barangays E. Rodriguez, Libis, Marilag, Masagana, Matandang Balara, Pansol, San Roque, Socorro, Ugong Norte, West Kamias and White Plains in the third district have COVID-19 cases. The report also noted that Barangays Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, Damayang Lagi, Don Manuel, Dona Imelda, Horseshoe, Immaculate Concepcion, Kalusugan, Kristong Hari, Paligsahan, Pinyahan, Sacred Heart, San Isidro Galas, San Martin de Porres, Sikatuna Village, South Triangle, Tatalon, Teachers Village East, Teachers Village West and Valencia all in the fourth district have at least one COVID-19 patient. The barangays with at least one COVID-19 patient in district five include Barangays Bagbag, Fairview, Kaligayahan and Pasong Putik. In District 6 Barangays Culiat, New Era, Pasong Tamo, Sauyo and Tandang Sora also have COVID-19 patients. EXTREME ENHANCED COMMUNITY QUARANTINE Mayor Joy Belmonte explained that the extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ) are implemented in barangays with two or more confirmed cases in their streets and/or in the congested urban poor areas where fast transmission of the disease is highly possible. The newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list because of the ongoing validation. As of 7pm of March 28, the Quezon City government is now implementing extreme enhanced community quarantine in the following barangays:
  • Barangay Tandang Sora
  • Barangay Kalusugan
  • Barangay Ramon Magsaysay
  • Barangay Maharlika
  • Barangay Tatalon
  • Barangay Batasan Hills
  • Barangay Pasong Tamo
  • Barangay Central
  • Barangay San Roque
  • Barangay Paligsahan
  • Barangay Bagong Lipunan ng Crame
  • Barangay South Triangle
  • Barangay Culiat
  • Barangay Bahay Toro
  • Barangay E. Rodriguez
  • Barangay San Isidro Labrador
Belmonte explained that Barangay Central does not have COVID-19 patients but was still included under extreme enhanced community quarantine due to the presence of numerous hospitals along East Avenue. DECONTAMINATION EFFORTS The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Quezon City Fire Department have continuously disinfected the city’s streets and highways. On March 28, 2020, 12 barangays were disinfected as part of the simultaneous decontamination operations. At present a total of 131 barangays have been disinfected in the city. FOOD PACK DISTRIBUTION Latest reports revealed that the city government has already distributed 780,000 food packs.
