QC COVID cases balloon to 1,261; city allots cash aid budget for non-SAP beneficiaries

From the previous 1,104, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quezon City (QC) ballooned to 1,261, for an increase of 157 as of 7 p.m. of April 27, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.
Similar to past statistics, the number of COVID-19 validated cases by the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) and District Health Offices differed with that of the DOH data at 850, 25 more than the previous 825.
From the previous 960, the total number of confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City is up by 73 at 1,033, as reported by the Quezon City Health Department (QCHD).
In the same QCHD report, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the city --pertaining to those still alive and have not fully recovered -- stood at 570, five more than the previous 565.
COVID-19 deaths and recoveries in QC
With seven new COVID-19 deaths, the number of fatalities rose to 125 from 118, while the 13 additional recoveries raised its number to 155 from 142, as of 7 p.m. of April 27, based on the QCHD report.

Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government implements the EECQ in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and in various streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely to occur.
However, Belmonte said this will still be subjected to daily review depending on the number of cases/recoveries.
She noted the newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list as they are still undergoing validation.
As of 7 p.m. of April 27, the Quezon City government has implemented EECQ in the following barangays:
Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth, Pansol, North Fairview, Novaliches Proper, and New Era.
Hope 1 facility
As of April 27, Hope 1 had no available rooms as its 41 rooms were occupied by COVID-19 confirmed and suspected patients.
Hope 2 facility
In the same period, confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients have occupied 128 rooms/beds with 170 more beds available.
Those who were tested in QC’s community-based testing are brought to Hope 2 for self-isolation while waiting for their results.
Community-based testing
On April 27, 153 swab tests were conducted in the city’s community-based testing centers, local government hospitals, and by the QCESU.
Of the 153 tests, 15 were done in Quezon City General Hospital, 18 in Novaliches District Hospital, 12 at Quezon Memorial Circle, 16 at SB Park Novaliches, 6 at the Asian Institute of Tourism, and 86 by the QCESU.
Quarantine violators
At 5 p.m. of April 27, 54 persons were apprehended for violating the enhanced community quarantine protocols.
Social amelioration program
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), assisted by the city government, has started the distribution of financial support to beneficiaries under the social amelioration program (SAP).
On April 27, partial payouts were conducted in Barangays Quirino 3A, Quirino 3B, San Vicente, Tagumpay, and Dioquino Zobel.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said residents who want to raise concerns about the subsidy may email the city government at [email protected].
"Kalingang QC"
As of April 27, 44, 868 beneficiaries were given P2,000 each by the city government under the "Kalingang QC" program.
The recipients included persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, senior citizens, vendors, and drivers of tricycles, pedicabs, jeepneys, taxis and transport network vehicle services.
Additional budget for those excluded from the list of beneficiaries
Belmonte and the city council approved a second and third supplemental budget of P1.9 billion, with part of it set aside for the financial assistance of those excluded from the national government’s SAP.
She said qualified families that were left out will receive P4,000 cash aid from the city government.
