QC conducts clearing operations vs campaign materials in public places

Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) has conducted a clearing operations to remove campaign posters along Balara Elementary School in Quezon City on Monday morning, March 7.

The DPOS removed all the campaign materials posted on public places in the area.

According to DPOS head retired Police Brig. Gen. Elmo Santiago, the posters violates the city ordinances against illegal streamers, tarpaulins, stickers, and other advertising and campaign paraphernalia.

Around 600 members from the DPOS and personnels from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will participate in the clearing operations.

Meanwhile, campaign materials posted in private places will not be removed unless the owner will request for its removal.

"Yung nakuha namin meron kaming depot sa Manila Sedling Bank sa may Quezon Boulevard EDSA...Itatago namin siguro for one week, that will be fair enough (The one we got we have a depot at Manila Sedling Bank in Quezon Boulevard EDSA... We will keep it maybe for one week, that will be fair enough),” Santiago said.

“Kung gusto nila kunin ililipat nila sa Comelec common poster area okay yun, ibibigay namin sa kanila (If they want to take it and move it to the Comelec common poster area, that's okay, we will give it to them),” he added.

Individuals who will claim the campaign materials must present a Special Power of Attorney authorized by the candidate to claim the materials.

Santiago said they will conduct the clearing operations across the whole city.
