The Department of Health–National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) on Monday urged the public to follow guidelines under the “new normal” to avoid a second wave of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.
“As we shift to kung anong phase ang mairekomenda ng IATF , kinakailangan pa rin po ‘yung tinatawag nating new normal,” DOH–NCR regional director Corazon Flores said in an interview with GMA's Unang Hirit.
“Ito pong strategy natin sa pagkontrol ng COVID, hindi lamang po gobyerno ang kailangan kumilos dito. Pati po ‘yung mamamayan,” she added.
Measures such as social distancing, hand washing, wearing of protective equipment, as well as boosting the immune system should be observed by the public, Flores said.
Flores said that as of May 10, COVID-19 cases in the NCR has reached 6,993, with 521 fatalities, and 1,384 recoveries. “Sabihin na nating 65% ng total cases sa buong bansa. Alam naman po natin na ang kaso sa buong bansa ay 10,794 na,” she added.
She said some cities in Metro Manila are already slowing down the doubling time of COVID-19 cases.
"Yung ating doubling time, o 'yung tinatawag natin gaano kabilis dumadami ang kaso, masasabi ko pong tumatagal na yung duration time natin. Dati po nasa two to three days, ngayon po ay nasa five, six na," she said.
“Ibig sabihin, gumaganda na po ‘yung sitwasyon sa Metro Manila at nagiging epektibo ang enhanced community quarantine (ECQ)."
