The Philippine Sport Commission (PSC) is offering the use of some major sports facilities to accommodate COVID-19 patients.

PSC Chairman William Ramirez made the offer in a radio interview with DZMM’s Ted Failon.
“So ito napagusapan namin, ang purpose lang ng PSC (is) to contribute the facilities of Rizal Memorial Sports Complex na merong multi-purpose gym. Meron ding Rizal stadium, at saka may open spaces tayo na apat. Dito sa Philsports, Philsports gym na ginamit nung SEA games bagong ginagawa, at saka itong track oval,” Ramirez said.
Ramirez said that between the two facilities, Rizal Sports Complex and Philsports, the government can easily house more than 200 patients with a combine 250-bed capacity.
The PSC official said that this option had already been discussed even before the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic.
He said that around early March PSC officials already had a meeting with DOH and DPWH officials regarding the possible alternate uses for the sports facilities.
It was anticipated that the government facilities, hospitals will not be enough to accommodate all COVID infected patients.
It was then, he said, when he called up Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to offer the PSC’s sports facilities as alternative COVID-19 treatment facilities.
