Provincial gov't wants to have Pangasinan placed under GCQ

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The provincial government of Pangasinan is appealing to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) that the province be placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) starting May 16.

This was after the IATF, through Resolution No. 35, classified Pangasinan as a low risk area in terms of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) affliction, thereby, removing any form of community quarantine that it should observe.
Gov. Amado Espino III said the province was grateful for this recognition for the effective management of the COVID-19 crisis, which was made possible by the concerted effort and sacrifice of everyone in the province.
Citing the help of frontliners and essential workers, national government agency-partners, public officials and employees from the provincial and city/municipal government and the barangays, and Pangasinenses.
While Pangasinan has not recorded any new cCOVID-19 positive case since April 24, or for eighteen (18) consecutive days, the provincial government maintained that certain restrictions should still be imposed in order to protect gains made against the dreaded disease.
Pangasinan listed the highest number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) because our barangay health emergency response teams (BHERTs) painstakingly monitored the arrival and movement of constituents in 1364 barangays. That was only made possible because of President Duterte’s proclamation of the entire Luzon area, including Pangasinan, to be under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ),” provincial officials averred.
The province has noted an increase in the number of persons under investigation (PUIs), and was still awaiting the results of on-going mass testing which started last week. As of this writing, the province is awaiting the results of 777 specimens submitted to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).
“For this reason, in behalf of the good people of Pangasinan, we humbly appeal that instead of altogether removing community quarantine in the province, that Pangasinan be placed instead under General Community Quarantine from May 16 to May 31, 2020,” Espino said.
