CEBU CITY—The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) has raised more than P9 million as part of its contribution to the “PNP Bayanihan Fund Challenge.”
Police Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, PRO 7 director, commended the at least 9,000 policemen and 700 non-uniformed personnel of PRO 7 who answered the call of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Archie Gamboa to gather P200 million to help fund the government’s fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“We collected more than P8 million from the voluntary donations of the PRO 7 personnel. This is our way of showing our gratitude to the President, who has shown endless support to the PNP,” said Ferro, who donated half of his base pay to the fund-raising drive.
On top of the P8 million that the PRO 7 garnered, Ferro announced that they also raised an additional P1 million from private sectors, local government units and police advisory councils.
Ferro said proceeds of the PRO 7’s fund-raising drive will be remitted to the national headquarters.
“We want to thank everyone who contributed to our Bayanihan Challenge. The amount will go a long way in the President’s goal of raising funds to help the poorest of the poor,” said Ferro.
