The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now preparing to resume its operation for processing of licenses, permits, and other documents for the public, as the government has started to partially re-open the economy.
PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa
(NCRPO PIO / MANILA BULLETIN) PNP chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa said he had already issued a directive to the heads of various police units dealing with documents for business and job applications and other permits to map out plans for their smooth reopening. “We will resume the operation of all frontline administrative functions and regulatory services, such as the processing of licenses, permits, and clearances, to the public in the soonest possible time,” said Gamboa. Among those units are the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO), Supervisory Office for Security and Investigative Agencies (SOSIA), Highway Patrol Group (HPG), and all City and Municipal Police Stations for issuance of local Police Clearance. These administrative services have been temporarily suspended after most of the country was placed under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Since March 16, malls and other business establishments have already been allowed to open under the condition that measures required for public safety will be strictly implemented, such as social distancing and the wearing of face masks. Meanwhile, Gamboa said they are also initiating consultative dialogues with leaders of religious groups to reach out and share information on health protocols, social distancing, and other regulations during religious activities. “I am sending out instructions to all commanders in all levels to talk to the different religious groups and orient them on the restrictions modified ECQ, general community quarantine, and modified general community quarantine on mass gatherings,” said Gamboa. “As evidenced by last weekend’s celebration of Eid'l Fitr, we can achieve cooperation among Filipino Christians and Muslims in the interest of public health and safety,” he added.
