The Philippine National Police (PNP) will be deploying two policemen in every quarantine hotels to prevent the repeat of returning Filipinos skipping mandatory quarantine.
PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said he had already instructed police commanders in areas with quarantine hotels to strategize the deployment of their men.
“The instruction is to assign two police personnel in each hotel for every shift. I will ask the concerned police units to strategize and rationalize the deployment of personnel so as not to compromise the other tasks that need to be delivered,” said Carlos.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier tasked the PNP to deploy police personnel in hotels serving as quarantine facilities amid the controversy brought by Gwyneth Chua.
"These personnel will man a common inter-agency helpdesk in each quarantine hotel in coordination. The PNP shall make sure that major functions such as the on-going relief and rehabilitation effort in typhoon-hit areas will not be hampered," said Carlos.
“This effort will strengthen our monitoring to those establishments that are non-compliant to protocol,” he added.
