PNP: Number of COVID-19 infected cops now 10

(PNP / MANILA BULLETIN) Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said the three additional cases brought to 10 the total number of policemen who have tested positive for COVID-19. Quoting a report from the PNP Health Service, Banac said the three additional cases were a 55-year old male and a 45-year old male, both from Metro Manila, and a 42-year old male from Northern Luzon. On the other hand, a total of 152 PNP personnel and six other civilian employees are considered persons under investigation (PUIs), while 1,422 PNP personnel are listed as persons under monitoring (PUMs). Banac said the increasing number of policemen being monitored for COVID-19 prompted the PNP leadership to open various facilities for the isolation of the PNP personnel believed to have been exposed to the coronavirus. Among them were three buildings at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig and a building inside Camp Crame. The Manila Police District (MPD) and Northern Police District (NPD), in coordination with their respective local government units, have their own quarantine facilities. “Other regional police offices will set up their own quarantine areas and facilities intended for their police personnel who also undergo self-quarantine due to pandemic,” Banac said.
