Placing Pasay under ECQ may have national impact --- Mayor Calixto-Rubiano

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said on Thursday (March 4) that she is not against placing the city under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) but other agencies and services must adjust accordingly.

“Ang declaration po kasi ng city-wide ECQ will involve IATF-National Capital Region, also ang impact kasi ay nasa entire NCR at syempre baka sa country. Nandito samin ang airport, MRT, LRT, travel hub po kami (Declaring a city-wide ECQ would need the involvement of the IATF-NCR because the impact will affect the entire NCR and may affect the country as well. We are a travel hub, we have the airport, MRT, and LRT),” Rubiano said.
“Yung domestic air travel will be cancelled while international will be restricted also the operations of bus terminal,” she added.
Rubiano also mentioned that “declaring ECQ is one thing, but managing it is another matter.” Dr. Tony Leachon, former special adviser to the National Task Force against COVID-19 in a tweet on Thursday, he called for Pasay City to be placed under total ECQ urgently with the spike in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases and the presence of the South African variant.
“Ang naoobserbahan namin, parang nacocontain naman within the community yung case (What we have observed, we think that the cases are being contained within the community),” the mayor said.
