Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III on Monday said he would wait for the copy of the complaint filed against him for his alleged breach of laws in accompanying his wife to a Makati hospital last month.

Lawyer Rico Quicho filed on April 6 before the Department of Justice (DOJ) a letter-complaint against Pimentel for supposedly violating the Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Disease and Health Events Act. The senator went with his pregnant wife to the Makati Medical Center on March 24 despite being on quarantine and undergoing test for COVID-19.
The lawmaker later found that he was infected with the novel coronavirus.
Asked for comment, Pimentel said he hopes to receive a copy of the complaint before commenting.
" Haven't read it. Sana to fair to me he furnishes me with a copy so I can answer/respond," he told reporters over Viber, referring to Quicho.
Pimentel said he also hopes to receive a copy from the DOJ, admitting that he is still "not familiar" with the electronic procedures being implemented in the agency amid the enhanced community quarantine.
The former Senate President and bar topnotcher earlier drew flak for escorting his wife to MMC on the night he was informed that he tested positive for COVID-19. In his defense, he said he deemed as an essential to go with this wife, Kathryna.
The MMC also denounced Pimentel for his "irresponsible and reckless action".
Kathryna gave birth to their daughter on March 29.
