
The country still recorded less than 2,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Sunday, Feb. 27.
Based on the latest Department of Health (DOH) case update, 1,038 new infections were found across the country. This was also the second lowest single-day tally for this year.
The drop in daily COVID-19 cases was evident as this was also the ninth straight day that the country has been recording less than 2,000 cases.
Most of the new cases were found in the National Capital Region, Western Visayas, and Calabarzon, the DOH said.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased to 3,661,049. Only 1.4 percent or 52,961 remain active at this point.
Of those patients who are still ill, 47,910 of them have mild symptoms; 2,780 have moderate symptoms; 1,417 are severe; 556 are asymptomatic; and 298 are in critical condition.
The DOH also reported 1,999 new survivors, bringing the country’s total number of COVID-19 recoveries to 3,551,687 or 97 percent of the case total.
It also recorded 51 new deaths, raising the country’s death toll to 56,401 or 1.54 percent of all confirmed infections.
The country’s healthcare utilization remained at low-risk as shown in the case bulletin.
Only 26 percent are occupied in terms of intensive care unit (ICU) beds dedicated for COVID-19 patients. Ward beds have 15 percent occupancy and 22 percent of isolation beds are currently being used
