Philippine Red Cross sets up call center for COVID-19 test results follow-ups

To ensure that the public could easily get their coronavirus disease (COVID-19) test results, a special desk has been designated at the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) COVID-19 call center for results follow-ups, said PRC Chairman and CEO, Senator Richard J. Gordon.

Gordon said this is to ensure that results would reach the person who was tested at the earliest possible time, noting that there have been cases where the person who was tested did not receive the results at all.
“Dun sa aming COVID hotline 1158, maglalagay ako ng area diyan na puwede kayong tumawag, ive-verify lang naming kung kayo ‘yun, at sasabihin namin sa inyo kung positive kayo o negative kayo (In our COVID-19 hotline 1158, we will designate an area you can call, and after verifying your identity, we can tell you if you are COVID positive or negative),” Gordon said on May 26, Tuesday.
Gordon added that after the caller’s name has been verified on the list, he or she could give a contact number and an email address where the result could be sent.
“Puwedeng tumawag ang mga na-test sa 1158 at hahanapin namin ang pangalan niyo dun, kung ibigay niyo email niyo at cellphone number, at pagkatapos papadala namin sa email niyo ang result na certified ng aming mga doktor sa Red Cross (Those tested can call 1158, then we will look for your name, and if you give your email and your cell phone number, we can e-mail you the results certified by our Red Cross doctors),” he said in an interview.
Gordon earlier said he has been advised by the World Health Organization to test 13 percent (1.6 million) of Metro Manila’s population in a bid to control the spread of the virus. The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 284 new coronavirus cases on May 25, which puts the total number of cases at 14,319.
DOH also recorded five new deaths (with total deaths now at 873), while 74 new patients have recovered from the virus, putting the country’s total recoveries now at 3,323.
