PH gets 11,000 kilos of fabrics for local PPE manufacturers

By Martin Sadongdong The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has acquired over 11,000 kilos of fabrics for the local manufacture of personal protective equipment (PPEs) of frontliners who are still fighting to contain the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the military said over the weekend. (PHILIPPINE AIRFORCE / MANILA BULLETIN) (PHILIPPINE AIRFORCE / MANILA BULLETIN) A Philippine Air Force C-130 transport aircraft ferried 334 rolls of fabric (11,256 kgs) from Xiamen International Airport in China to Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on Saturday. Major Aristedes Galang, Air Force spokesperson, said PAF pilots and crew who fetched the fabrics, as well as the merchandise, underwent preventive disinfection and decontamination process to ensure they are free from the COVID-19. Air Force medical teams and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) personnel from 710th Special Operations Wing led the safety procedures for the crew and fabrics. No other detail was provided about the shipment. "The PAF pilots and crew dedicated all their skills and efforts to ensure that the much needed medical supplies and other essential equipment are successfully transported," Galang said. "Undoubtedly, their sacrifices are clear manifestation that the welfare of the Filipino people is their first priority in support to the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act," he added. Aside from this, the PAF has also been flying day and night to China to ferry PPE sets and other medical supplies that were bought by the government in March.
