The Philippine Air Force (PAF) disclosed on Monday, March 30, that it has transported 31 boxes of personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers in Western Visayas (Region 6), in support to the government's efforts to fight the spread of COVID-19.
Major Aristedes Galang, chief of PAF's public affairs office, said an NC212i light transport aircraft airlifted the PPEs from Ebuen Air Base in Lapu Lapu City to Iloilo International Airport over the weekend. The PPEs were donated by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Visayas to Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.
"This endeavour is a noble expression of unity between the PAF, government agencies and non-government organizations in this challenging time for the welfare of the people and country," Galang said.
A decontamination procedure was conducted by the Tactical Operations Group (TOG-6) upon the arrival of the aircraft "to ensure the safety of all individuals" aboard it, Galang said. Various groups and concerned government agencies continue to tap the military to transport donations to medical experts and other frontliners amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
